ABSTRAKSI: Saat ini merupakan masa transisi dari jenis pengalamatan Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) menuju ke pengalamatan Internet protocol version (IPv6). Selain dikarenakan oleh jumlah bit yang digunakan pada pengalamatan IPv6 lebih banyak dibanding IPv4, IPv6 juga memiliki protocol-protocol yang mendukung handover untuk komunikasi mobile node dengan correspondent node yang bergerak dari suatu point of attachment ke point of attachment lainnya pada jaringan Wireless LAN (WLAN).
Pada tugas akhir ini penulis mengimplementasikan jaringan yang mendukung handover vertical dan horizontal MIPv6. Jenis handover dibagi dua berdasarkan tipe layer yang dipengaruhi yaitu horizontal dan vertical handover. Horizontal handover Agar Mobile IPv6 dapat dapat di implementasikan dan bekerja dengan optimal, perlu dilakukan penelitian dengan melakukan analisis peformansi pada saat horizontal dan vertical handover.
Dari beberapa skenario seperti kecepatan pergerakan Mobile Node dan daya access point didapatkan hasil analisis Vertikal dan horizontal handover sukses dilakukan pada irisan I, II, III, and IV, tetapi tidak berhasil dilakukan pada irisan IV atau pada level daya terima kecil dari -100 dBm. Handover Latency, persentasi dari Packet Loss, dan roundtrip delay handover MIPv6 horizontal and vertical slices dan kecepatan didapatkan performansi optimal pada irisan III atau pada level daya terima besar dati -80 dBm.

With several scenarios such as speed of the Mobile Node movement and the access point analyzes the results obtain vertical and vorizontal Handover successfully performed on slices I, II, III, and IV, but it did not work on slices of IV. At the reception power level of less than -100 dBm .. Handover Latency, Packet Loss Percentage of, and the roundtrip time delay handover MIPv6 horizontal and vertical slices show optimal performance on the acceptance level III or Greater than -80 dBm.
